Started to work for this Co-partnership as a material clerk. After about two years started to supervise small jobs such as houses, stores, etc. in connection with office work. In October, 1912 went onto the new Mayo Clinic Building, Rochester, as superintendent of Construction and completed the job in about twenty months. (This job cost about $1,500,000.)
The next large job was the Colonial Hospital in Rochester, which I superintended (This job cost about $400,000.00) This job lasted about a year. I was in charge of the construction of many homes; Martin and Norton Hotels, Case Garage, Universalist Church, Congregational Church and many other buildings until called to war. After my return from France I was on several small jobs until my resignation to go into business for myself. After working for approximately four years for G. Schwartz & Co. the Co -partnership was changed into a Corporation, and I acted as Secretary of same until my resignation. The average number of men employed on my jobs varied from 50 to 300. I had complete charge of organization of jobs and handling the men.
Salary: $45.00 per week -
