I've been working on Nicholas Breen history lately, focusing on his blacksmith business near Milwaukee. Nicholas first emerged there as a business and community leader, before moving to southern Minnesota.
Nicholas was orphaned during the Irish famine and raised by his extended family on a rural farm where he learned blacksmithing.
Nicholas' daughter Rosemary Breen was the mother of my / our grandmother - Kathleen Moonan Fitzgerald.

There is clearly a great deal more information about each of our ancestors and family history in all directions. I'm using these short posts to test the blog and make it work for this family history sharing purpose.
