Pioneeer Woman Passes Away
The death of Mrs. Mary Moonan occurred at her residence in this city shortly after noon yesterday. She had been feeble for a year or more, and her death was due to a stroke of apoplexy.
Mrs. Moonan was born in Queen's County, Ireland, April 13, 1831. She came to America with her husband, Partick Moonan and located in 1855 in this county which has since been her home, first in Iosco, then in Janesville and then here. Her husband died in November 1899.
Six children survive the parents: James of Ely, Minn., John, Thomas, William, and Mrs. Charles Spillane of this city, and Mrs. Mary Twomey, of Buffalo, NY. All except the last were present when the mother passed away, and she is expected for the funeral, which will be held in Sacred Heart church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Internment will be made at the cemetery in St. Mary's by the side of the husband.
Another good woman has gone to her reward followed by the love of a large circle of friends.
